So, as you may remember, the Missouri State Bar announcing swearing in ceremonies were to be held on September 26, 2011. Yup, just two days after the wedding. Chris and I made the decision to push the honeymoon back a week so that I could take part of the process at the Supreme Court. It isn't required, but it is neat and something that meant a lot to me.
So on day 2 of newlywed life, we get up at 4 am, leaving town at 5 with our mothers headed to Jefferson City. Since I was sworn in as "Gabel" instead of Upton, I got in the third ceremony. They only last about 20 minutes so it goes quickly. My boss even met us up there. It was neat to know how proud he is of me too. I doubt few, if any, had their boss present.

Swearing into US Federal District Court - Western District of Missouri
Pictures taken by the school - first me with my Oath of Admissions then with Chris and our mothers
In our wonderful Howell County, there is also a tradition to be sworn in by the Circuit Judge and you sign the book of attorneys. The book dates back til the lat 1800s. I took this Oath on October 17th, my first law day. My entire office was present.
I was given cases to handle on my own on the day returning from being sworn into the bar so I guess I hit the road running. I am so excited about this part of my life. I have gained a few clients on my own and so far I love being an attorney!

We were so happy with how everything turned out. One minor glitch, but I will tell you about that later. Our wedding was everything that we could have wanted and then more. I wish I could get married every day. We have our video back and I have watched it twice - crying both times. I'm starting to have wedding withdraws though. Hopefully with working on the house and organizing, my time away from work won't be so void.
Next up, Honeymoon.
Playing a little catchup
Now that I feel that I have a little time to breathe, I figure that I should update on what has been going on, but I will try to go back in chronological order. Back to the bachelorette party - the weekend before the wedding. Nine girls, including myself, traveled to Branson, MO for the weekend. I was so pleased - all my lovely ladies in my wedding party, my great friend and wedding singer and then a few other friends came along.
We went up early Saturday morning. It poured on us half the trip and the rest of the day. When we got to Branson, we headed down to Branson landing. We look a lunch boat cruise. It was fun, even though we were the youngest people there by decades. We even got on the roof of the boat for dancing and a hula-hoop contest.
Then we did a little shopping downtown. By the time we left the landing, we were soaked. My jeans were holding water up to my knees, but we tried not to let the water damper our spirits. We then headed to our hotel to check in and get ready for dinner.
Dinner was at the Dixie Stampede. It was a great show and we got to sit in the front row. I just wish that we could have taken pictures there, but sadly, they do not let you take pictures in there. Dinner was good, including the pre-show. Luckily the Dixie took our picture.
After the Dixie, we hung out at the hotel - eating junk food and having girl talk. It was the perfect ending to the night. I couldn't have asked for a better Bachelorette Party. Special thanks to the bestest maid of honor Maggie for planning it!
